eZediaMX v2.1
Develop interactive presentations with
ease
Whether
you want to create a presentation slideshow, an interactive training
system or a CD presentation, the wealth of multimedia authoring
tools at your disposal can be somewhat staggering. For the beginner,
Microsoft's PowerPoint offers a healthy balance of ease of use
versus number of features, all at a reasonable price. For the
more advanced user, Macromedia's famous Director is often the
tool of choice, but has the disadvantages of a hefty price tag
and a fairly steep learning curve.
eZediaMX 2 aims to cover all bases - being powerful enough for
the advanced user while easy enough to learn for the beginner
to get started on simple projects before progressing to something
more adventurous. If you have used any similar authoring package
in the past, be it one of the aforementioned, or an alternative
such as Illuminatus Opus, you are at a definite advantage, as
the theory behind authoring in eZediaMX is similar to other programs.
As well as the standard picture, text and button elements, you
can also add interactive QuickTime VR files to your presentations.
If you want to add sounds but do not have a suitable file already
stored on your hard drive, you can use the built in sound recorder
to create new files as and when required.
Much of the work you do with eZediaMX is drag and drop based
- simply build up a collection of the media elements you would
like to use (using the Object Well) and then drop them into place
when they are required. Properties and effects can be applied
to objects in a similar way. For example, you can apply an effect
to a picture which will be activated when it is clicked, but the
event can also be triggered by adding a button. The event can
be assigned to the button by creating a link between it and the
other object.
The joy of using eZediaMX 2 over other authoring packages is
that there is absolutely no need to learn a new language (such
as Director's often impenetrable Lingo). You can set up all the
events and transitions you require by dragging and dropping objects,
editing their properties and then linking them to other objects
if necessary.
eZedia is also more logical to use then many other programs.
Rather than having to get to grips with new concepts such as timelines,
scores and casts, you can simply draw precisely how you would
like your interface to appear and then add elements and navigational
options.
The installation includes a number of tutorial files to help
you familiarise yourself with some of the concepts of eZediaMX2.
These cover everything from working with the object well to adding
movies and animation to your presentations. The tutorial over
the page is intended as a brief introduction to the program. Once
you have mastered these techniques, you will understand the principles
behind creating any presentation. The easiest way to learn to
use eZediaMX 2 is simply to experiment.
Before you can start using eZediaMX 2 you need to obtain a registration
code. When the installation routine is complete, you will be directed
